Nice shot Wee Keng - is that in Holland Village? Are you using the lens hood?

Thanks,

Mark

Yes, in HV.
Naked, no lens hood.

Seems like the GR does fine without the hood. I think the hood is way too big and cumbersome so I am very reluctant to get it.

Weekh: some more solid images. Cool.

Perhaps there's still too limited availability?

Happened to meet up with Eric Kim in Toronto last night (a few photos) and he had his GR with him. He really likes it. Some in attendance gave the impression it's still difficult to find here in Canada (though my dealer did have at least one a week ago).

For me $800 is in a threshold range. It's not quite low enough to be an impulse buy, therefore I've given it more thought than I usually would whether I'd really use the camera much. Instead I spent the money on some Japanese 50s era RF glass.

That said, still looking forward to seeing what you guys do with the camera. I'll probably succumb at some point and join the party...

Ron, think of it as an outstanding 28mm eq lens with a camera attached, and the resistance will be gone. The X18/2 is $600, that seals my decision.

Outstanding b/w pics with Eric Kim, he is kinda like a celebrity now?

The Camera Store sold out their first order right away, second order should be in this week. I've decided to pick one up, it seems like the right compromise of size and speed for me.

Yep - at least in NYC there is none. Would be interested in hearing of shipped orders - I am still in line at B&H, ordered 5/26.

I'm curious if people find this camera pocketable? I could see picking it up if so. Judging from camerasize.com, it looks barely larger than an RX100, actually smaller in one dimension.

Regular pants pocket yes. Skin tight jeans pocket no. It's actually thinner than RX1.

Summer is the time when everybody wants a piece of me (carpenter) but today we are booking a trip to Canada. GR will be the only camera I bring, I will do some trail running and hiking in Banff, maybe Kananaskis. Will redeem myself then.

I know what you're saying, and if it was between the Fuji and the GR, I'd get the GR hands down because it's a much better lens and also camera. That said, I'm quite fond of my 28 Cron on FF, which when shot wide open and closer gives quite nice subject isolation that will be diminished with 18mm on APS-C... But if I didn't already have that, I'd definitely be in line for the GR. It also should be great for subjects at farther distances where you can take advantage of the deeper DOF without having to stop down so much.

Glad you liked the photos of Eric & the gang. I guess he's enough of a street photo celeb that Ricoh gave him a free GR.

IQ decently good at 21mm:

I find the 21mm accessories are poorly implemented:
The converter is almost as heavy as the cam.
I would prefer the adapter and converter can be carried around as one unit but there is no rear cover if this is to be done so.
Too many small little pieces to be assembled and removed before the 21mm converter can be used.
The converter is a little flimsy and can break any time.
Using the adapter requires a ring to be removed from the cam - this will lead to chances of loosing the ring or breaking it.

Wee, thanks for the info on the 21mm converter.

Not much activity here at the moment. Two quite different from today, for the first I hade to pull back saturation for red, yellow and orange and the second one shows how good it behaves as a landscape camera when stopped down to f/8.
