Unravel: with the 2nd and 3rd last images, with the deep blacks, are you shooting in manual and exposing for highlights? Or aperture with exposure adjustment, or is it post? Excellent photographs.

Thank you! I was shooting the lazy way just in TAV (auto iso) mode with exposure adjustment -2.0. I can adjust exposure almost faster than my DSLR, which is quite a testament to ricoh's ergonomics.

Just got mine. For Canadians who are interested, Henry's has them in stock right now.

dwb: very underwhelming. The Theta was not really news as such and that product alone did not warrant an entire press conference. Must have been a short press conference.

The tight lip Ricoh style is a bit off-putting but as long as they deliver interesting things to the market I am prepared to wait.

I am not hoping for a Ricoh system to arrive on the market, I am just leaving a little gap for the niche cameras which is where they excel. I think they would be able to make a very interesting three-four lens mini system if they had the guts to do it. But I guess the market is already swamped by all the existing options in mft and aps-c.

Fuji is releasing their fourth X camera and are really churning it out with the lenses - and fast ones too - so I guess the interchangeable lens market is a money pit where money burns fast for some companies.

Still, Ricoh was declared DEAD for about a year before the GR arrived. Then they hit a home run. I expect them to go out with a bang - just hoping the GR wasn't "it". A small Summicron style 40mm lens in a GR-like body would be sweet.

I doubt the GR is all they have up their sleeves. Having handled it at the press conference, I can say that the Theta is actually pretty cool, but I definitely wouldn't pay $400 for one. Beautifully built and does what it does well, but it's not something I'd personally use all that often. More of a novelty than a serious camera, and novelties don't get $400.

I think the theta is pretty cool. I could definitely see myself using it with my real estate photography work.

Yeah, real estate photographers, wedding photographers (really easy photobooth, eh?), and skate punks have good reason to be excited.

I'm loving this camera. If they came out with dedicated 21mm and 50mm versions, I'd buy one of each.

I just ordered a Ricoh GR and I'm excited to get out and shoot with it. I shoot primarily outdoor/nature with a Nikon D800 kit (www.DougBushPhoto.com). I would like to shoot more candid, "every-day life" photos and although 28mm wasn't my first pick, the Ricoh GR is just so understated, small and simple I'm hoping it will allow me to photograph situations that my D800 gets in the way of. Anyone else out there shooting with a large SLR, also shooting the GR? The D800 is absolutely a tool for me and I although I enjoy the general artistic process, the camera itself is no joy to use. I'm hoping the GR will bring a little more simplicity to my photography when I'm just shooting for the fun of it.
