p.1 #1 · My first double exposure

I tried my first kick at a double exposure this past week-end. I know it's a bit cliche and maybe even "very" tacky but a part of me really likes the fun of stepping away from the regular shots to go outside my comfort zone. It was actually extremely easy to do and in fact and much easier in PS than in camera which I tried for a good solid 5 hours before saying screw it.lol Let me know what you think.

I think double exposures are becoming heavily overdone and gimmicky. With that said, this one is great. Very few are executed this well. Kudos. I really like it and if I were the bride and groom I'd be thrilled with it.

I'm with Joshua on this one. I'm over them, but i like that yours isn't a full silhouette and you can see the emotion in their faces.

Quickly becoming the selective color of Summer 2013.

Nice though.

This is like the champagne glass shot of the 90s. Surely there is a more interesting double exposure people can come up with that adds value?

When did double exposures become recently popular?

I think this is the first double exposure I've seen done with a digital camera. It looks pretty cool.

Very nice. It's only overdone because we are photographers and have seen it everywhere. Chances are the client hasn't and will love it.

This is it. Do I like the double exposure? Actually I thin they are terribly tacky and will be dated within the next few months if not sooner. However, most brides and grooms this early in the wedding season have not seen them yet, so I thought I' do one early (or at least early enough) to not have to bother with it later.lol And ultimately I wanted to try at least once during a wedding to see if I coud do it and how difficult it would be. A small challenge to myself.

note: the tree is her family tree which is massive and in her front yard so I made sure to bring it into her images (smooth hey!)lol

The funny thing is, this is only becoming common among photographers...I would guess that 90%+ of clients have still never seen anything like it. I am sure they will love it

I saw the thread title and wanted so badly to come on here and flame the crap out of you, OP. But sadly I cannot. It's just too well done.

I completely agree with what others have said that this double exposure nonsense is guaranteed to be lumped in with selective color a year or two from now.

Nevertheless, well done. I'm sure your clients were thrilled with this one.

I think it's pretty well done. Tacky? Trendy? maybe... I actually went to a museum that had a photography section and I actually saw some double exposure techniques done way back in the 50's.
