Excellent BIFs, Martin. This alleviates some of my concerns about whether the iDX will do as good a job for wildlife photographers as the iDIV when the day comes that it is time to consider a new body.

Thanks,
Yes I was wondering the same for a while and now sorry I did not get the ! D X sooner

Wow indeed! That is some amazing panning to get that sharpness at 1/640th! I have almost gotten these guys in focus with my 5D3 at higher shutter speeds but I couldn't handle the panning... I am really impressed!

Congrats on the 1DX Martin. Does this make you "X-rated"? A very nice job on the swift, and the kites are well done too ~ Ron

Good stuff, Martin.
It's a brave person, indeed, who even TRIES to photograph a swift in flight.
And you got a good one.
Many years ago I was playing golf on the coastal cliffs of Torrey Pines (near San Diego), and something zoomed past my ear so close and so fast it startled the hell out of me. Following its flight, I saw that it was a swift in pursuit- no doubt- of flying insects. The bugs would have no chance against a tiny rocket like that... with its big mouth wide open .
Charlie

Thanks Charlie for your kind comments and interesting reply.
Maybe it was the little bugs flying around your head, as they often do, that attracted the Swift
