Leaving our Yangtze River boat for a few hours, we all hopped aboard these jet-powered boats and stormed our way up this side river for lunch. Then back to our waiting cruiser.
Jet boats seem marginally controllable- but nothing else will work when the water gets shallow.
Spectacular side trip, though.

Thanks Steven, Tom and Ratty.
The new dam was built not far downstream from this location- so, yes, part of this side river has become a lake.
How much, I don't know.
It certainly changed things for the few tiny villages alongside the river (as in submerged some of them), but how much it affected the sightseeing appeal, I can only guess.

Thanks Lazlo and Ray.
The Chinese government having photographers in mind when they build a bridge?
I agree with you, Lazlo... .
I was in the last of the excursion boats, and luckily a decent composition occurred at the right time. I was worried that it might not- because even with a 24mm lens turned vertically- I only had a brief window of opportunity when I could get the bridge AND the boats in the same shot.
