Mine came last Friday. I've only had a few chances to take pics around the yard. My laptop has been on life support so I haven't been able to load any pics. Hope to do that tonight. The AF is ridiculously fast and accurate, even with the Sigma 2x tc that snuck into my order.
The lens is much heavier than I'd expected. I need to find a bag to carry it mounted with the tc an body in. It's also really nice looking in the new finish.
Thank you for the notice, Fred.
The lens looks to be of an appealing form, slim, and the tripod mount foot appears to be long enough for a good grip.
I also hope the Sigma workmanship has improved substantally, because issues such as peeling off paint coat of their pro line "EX" lenses, including 120-300 f/2.8, had been a pathetic sight. I have always felt that if they can not finish the barrel surface of their top-of-the-line lenses properly, what is that they can possibly do right ?
I am looking forward to user reviews of the new lens.

Hey, Dennis!! The combo mounted, fits perfectly in the Tenba LL-400 I had the last version w/metal
screw in hood vs. the plastic POS. Trust the new is indeed an improvement in that regard as well.
NO, it's 1 yr International and 3 extended for USA. Just went thru this
with the "A" 35 f1.4 Sigma actually called me to confirm, kid you not.
Told this holds true for their new A/S/C lineage.

The specs quote it as heavier than a 500 f/4L IS mk II and 700g+ heavier than the 300 f/2.8L IS, and 1.7kg heavier than a 70-200 f/2.8L IS mk II. Yikes. That has really soured me to that lens for now, but if the reports with TCs are stellar I may consider it down the track, especially when price drops as it alwys does on the Sigmas. Heck the just superseded model could be found for $2300 quite easily.

I'm glad to know the AF is fast and accurate.
Did you test it in low light as well?

With a 1.4x TC, it's a poor man's 168-420 f4 OS with programmable focus limits, at about a third of the price of the 200-400 IS. Looking forward to reviews on the IQ and AF speed with TCs.

Yes I've said a quite often and the devil is in the detail. I expect it might be very good with a 1.4x TC IQ wise, but will it cut the mustard AF wise? Also will it fall apart with a 2x TC as high quality 240-600 f/5.6 OS would be very nice, but I suspect it will be trounced by the 200-400L with the 1.4x activated in IQ and AF.

With the Canon 2xTC III the results are very very good. AF remains fast and accurate, only low light was shooting Wiener dogs at Dusk. Post In the Alt Forum bare and with the 2x.

Ever since I sold my original 120-300 OS in favor of a 400 DO (choosing to carry a 70-300L and 400 DO instead of a 120-300 OS), I've wondered if I'd get the "itch" when this thing came out...currently trying to keep from scratching....
Looking forward to reviews for sure. I'd love it if this lens gave the 200-400 a run for it's money.

Good God, one would hope so. I'd hate to have just shelled out $12K only to have a 3rd party zoom with a 2x TC come close to it for 1/3 the price.
