I agree with Beavens, but I hesitate to crit anything unless the OP asks...but since you did now... as shot, it is just a tree, I don't feel the umbrella theme, but if you were to get under it, get the canopy overhead in the shot...maybe if its raining...then it would work IMO. I like the idea of thinking outside the box, and looking for something other than just an umbrella, but for it to really work is has to be convincing.
My impression is that most entries receive fewer comments good or bad than in the past. I know I haven't left replies or comments recently, I just am so pressed for time. I get about five minutes shooting time for my submissions--hoping that is not obvious. I do agree with the comments about changing the perspective.
Good luck,
Dan
To again save time, beauty last week Travis, you too beavens.

100 views and no comments - is it unappealing?
Bill, one reason you get no comments might be that most viewers are aware of the rules for assignments.
Especially the last sentence below.

Montage techniques are allowed but should be functional and kept to a minimum. Your entries for the weekly assignment should highlight your photographic skills, not your software knowledge.
There are several ways to submit your images: The first one is by using the Upload & Sell membership. The second is by subscribing to the FM Gallery host service and posting your image full link to the message. Finally you could also link your image from your own webpage or photo service site.
If more feedback is needed before posting here, first post your image in the Critique forum. Then post your final shot here.

Thanks Norm. My comment quoted above was in relation to another image which has now been removed.
The current image is in fact one shot out of the camera with only the background being edited. That is why I called it an abstract and not a montage.
