It's probably just crappy or worn. The one in the first attached image is labelled "Minolta", "Japan", and the second is stamped "R & H", "Japan". I have a couple more made by other brands that also work well on the X-Pro 1
You probably won't go too far wrong if you can find one with the same brand as a film camera maker (e.g. Pentax, Olympus, etc.), but you'll pay a real premium for some of them (e.g. Linhof, Leica, etc.).
Fantastic. Thanks!!! I've read that the Nikon AR-3 is a good one and tried-n-true over the years. Do each of these that you posted lock/unlock "on demand", as opposed to no lock or locking at every release?
I've been a traditional Canon shooter for years, but I am really starting to enjoy and love the X-Pro1. It's taken some time for me to get accustomed to it .... ergonomics, nuances of focus, raw processing, etc. .... but I think I'm finally starting to get comfortable.
