I'm a pixel peeper of sorts, and the draw back of a slow shutter speed to capture the movement is that it was difficult to get the rider tack sharp. That's what I would try to perfect if I ever did it again. Maybe increase the shutter speed a 1/2 a stop to prevent the camera shake.

I love these B&W shots as they communicated the mood better. I think you did great. Did you pan the camera in the same direction he was moving to get the streaking affects?

The high handle bars used to be called " ape hangers ". It would seem all the blood in you arms would drain out and your arms would go to sleep. I guess not.

It's really cool to see someone a 'part of their machine' and this is man and machine harmony at its best

I like the overall look of dark darks and chrome and silver, sweet bike.
Now I am no expert but I think the term 'chopped' is for extended front forks and raked back bars, these bars are commonly called 'ape hangers'

Wonderful shot in such a short time to work with it.

"Chopped" or "Chopper" go way back and essentially mean the chopping of 'as bought' or factory parts in favor of customized taste to the individual. One of the common things you see are extended forks and various style of bars but it also has to do with the removal of turn signals, passenger seats, etc. and whatever else. A general term, in other words.

I like the photos, too, very nicely done. Thanks for sharing!

Incredible pix and conversions.

BUT, every time I see those "ape hangers" I gotta wonder how comfortable they are *and* how successful one would be if they needed to pull a maneuver to avoid an incident.

Actually, you just described a bobber.

Chopper means that the frame has been modified by cutting off the steering stem, and repositioning it to change the bikes stretch, fork rake, etc. Before aftermarket frames the only way to do this was to cut / "chop" the frame.

dope photos!
Love the black and white tones as well.
Yeah, it's not as easy as it looks!
I did a very similar assignment while a photo student with a guy on a motorcycle.
Easy to get pretty cool photos but to get the tack sharp ones it took hours and what seemed just a little luck! Thanks again for posting.
