I've been on a bit of tree kick recently. Specifically some of the trees on top of the rocky state parks here in Central NC.

Nice collection.
#1: Chop some of the sky off and the shot becomes a lot stronger.
#2: IMHO the weakest of the 4. The tree doesn't stand out enough from the background.
#3: Great shot. Also one where a central composition works.
#4: The sky colour looks odd. Otherwise a nice shot.

Nicely done!
I like #1, 3 (although a little closeup would make that a lot stronger shot)
As helen said, #2 blends in too much with background..and same in #4.

Hey Mark,

Disregard all of the above comments...

Okay, so for me, #4 is super cool. I really like the more artistic processing in that one, very well done and it really stands out. #1 is my next favorite, a very cool composition, the B&W works really well, and those clouds really set this shot off. #2 is my next favorite, again, great B&W processing, and the limited DOF works to perfection. I like how you tried to frame #3, but for me, it's my least favorite, it just doesn't strike a chord as much as the other 3 do.

Way to go on this tree series. I would like to do something like that one day. I am guessing since most of my shooting is at the ocean is why I am a bit limited in that quest...

OK, I'm sort with Jim on this one.
I prefer #2 most of all for the DOF, the the 1st, then the 4th.

I really like tree shots and the B&W treaments work nicely.

Thanks for posting

Dan

Thanks all, Definitely stepping out of my comfort zone, both in terms of subject matter and processing here. I knew the toning in the last would be divisive, and all could be a bit tighter but I wanted the isolation of each to be the driving impetus.
