Hey,

for those interested, LensTip has just reviewed the Samyang 24mm TS lens. The image quality is quite good but for some reasons they find the mechanics quality "unacceptable" for the price.
Seems like the Canon TS-E still has its best days ahead…

You can find the full review here.

I would definitely get the original Canon 24 TS-E and make corrections in LR4 for CA. Otherwise, that Canon is a pretty nice lens.

Yea, I was thinking about this one, but was more disciplined this time and waited for the reviews. I think I will go with a Canon TS-E afterall.

I have 3 Samyang lenses, the 14, 24 & the 35. All of them a real bargain for the IQ.
But the Samyang TS-E was a bit high & pretty close to the Canon MkI series.

My "overall" understanding is that the IQ of the Samyang is about as good as a Canon MkI series.

Actually am tempted to go with a 45 TS-E now

Dan

My take-away agrees with your comment on IQ, but notes that the Samyang lags behind on construction quality, which is especially important for a TS lens.

Totally agree with Jim here. A tilt-shift lens has way more moving parts and setting locks than a regular lens. For this asking price I would either save the extra money and buy the version II of the Canon lens or buy a solid used version I for about what the Samyang goes for...
