Been pondering on ordering one of these especially since the delivery times from Amazon seems to have become more reasonable. I loved my X100 except for some critically bad issues.
How good is Lightroom support now with this tricky sensor?
How much better is AF speed than the X100 in low light? Is it reliable? I've had many AF failures on my X100 in normal indoor light.
Are there still fine detail (foliage) smushing and smearing issues?
Did they tighten down the EC dial?
How quick is the file speed for chimping/deleting?
1) LR is still smears certain areas, but it's good enough for me most of the time. I output to Accuraw or Aperture if I have a really noticeable smearing issue. The smearing is still noticeable when viewing an image full size on my 23" screen, which isn't exactly huge (something like a 30% crop.) The IQ of the camera is still by biggest hang up, but it depends on a lot of variables, most notably print size.
Also, while LR has the smearing issue, the other converters have weird color artifacts and whatnot that can show up, so none of the converters are fantastic. I basically change converters depending on the scene, which isn't exactly efficient.
2) Lowlight and overall AF is better. It isn't class leading, but it is an improvement.
3) Yep, still smears with LR.
4) EC dial is tighter
5) The overall speed of the camera is much faster.
This is one of my favorite digital cameras that I've used, in terms of handling and use. I don't like X-trans much at all, but I'm trying to take a "who cares!?!?" approach to the IQ, because just about any m4/3 and up sensor should be fine enough for most uses, these days. I still wish that Fuji would go back to Bayer, though.
Goosemang, the zone focusing indicators are still very conservative. If you use several focus distances with zone focusing, you may still have to look them up with a chart or phone app or something.
