I've also ordered the 6D this evening - Grey Import

SD card wise, I've got a stack of "Ultras" which I used with my 450D, but I've just bought and Extreme Pro from Amazon. 8Gb version.

If they work out, I'll order a few more, I prefer to carry a few 8Gb in case one fails and I loose a stack of images. £17 - cant complain.

Enjoy!

Some say that the 6D needs a card like the Sandisk Extreme Pro with 95MB/s? Is that true? will the Ultra or Extreme with 45MB/s be enough?

It depends if you want to shoot video, if you do then the faster the better. I only use my 6D for stills and I find 30MB/s fast enough…

I use the Transcend cards in the 6D. Work great.

I plan to do a little back to back test of the Ultra cards I have against the Extreme I've just ordered - once it all arrives, I can let you know if there is much difference.

I guess the only noticeable difference will be for Video as already mentioned and also in the time taken to clear off a burst of frames.

Mine arrived last night! - Did you take an age to charge the battery up ? I'm not sure exactly how long it took as I went to bed!

Few shots around the house this afternoon - LOVE IT.

Hopefully the weather will sort itself out and I can get out over the weekend for a proper trial run.

Also - I did a little back to back test using the "Ultra" cards vs the "Extreme".

Results:

- I couldn't tell any difference when shooting continuous. If there is a delta there, its marginal. I really cant tell.

- Scrolling images on the camera, the "Extreme" is more responsive. (Which I'm surprised at). Not so much flicking through images one by one, but if you use the wheel to advance +10 images - the "Extreme" is miles quicker at bring up the images compared to the Ultra.

- Video seems fine on the "Ultra", but I've not really explored this vs the "Extreme"

So - For me, I'll probably pick up a couple more "Extreme" cards and be done with it

Ben
