It does effectively block glare, which can be quite a problem on Live View LCD. However it was not helpful for MF as the optics were too soft on the edges of the image, and not even super crisp in the center.

Glare is the biggest problem at daytime.
Glass:Can we replace with a suitable better lens ?
How to find a glass with apt focal length, so as image is fairly sharp?
Anyway I ordered one, it is on the way. Now no way to stop, but to improve the glass.

I've used my Schneider medium format film loupe to view the rear LCD. It does not cover the full area on the large displays prevalent now, but it is quite sharp.
