I wonder if Sigma has finally reached the point of making durable, reliable lenses. My non-OS 120-300 was clearly not up to par.

(Shrugs) Sigma reps told me it was 2.9kgs (yes the new one). To be honest it did feel heavier when I had a play, but who was I to argue?

Not disagreeing with you or the facts on the site When I held the lens I said to the reps that it felt heavier than the 500 ii (3.1kgs). They said it weighed 2.9kgs. Turns out I was right

And some are complaining about the weight of the 200-400? (3.62kg)

I don't think so , although there were muttering a a while back when glimpse images showed it to be about the size or bigger of the 500L .
The main complaints on the 200-400 are the price

On the 120-300 . If the new one is a little bit heavier than the current one that I have then I don't think it will be much of an issue .
My current one is heavy but after the initial shock it doesn't seem that heavy . But I will say its not that comfortable in use . Trying to find a comfortable hand position to balance it is the issue .

But I must say I find all the posts (in this thread and in others ) 'guessing' the size/weight of this lens .
I mean come on , its not going to be that much different to the current one is it . Its a -300/2.8 zoom so its not going to be small and light is it . But also sigma won't be making it out of solid granit so its not going to weigh a ton either .

Lars I know (I actually forgot to say that you posted the specs)

What I'm getting at is ever since this lens was announced there have been posts/threads 'guessing/stating' the size and weight of this lens . It seems people have thought it could be anything from just a bit bigger/heavier than a 70-200/2.8 (impossible) to over 5kg

Actually, it is one of the dead horses Peter and others have been beating about the 200-400 for a long, long time (size/weight/one stop slower/price). What I agree with you here, about either the 120-300, or the Canon, is balance will likely be a bigger factor for many than absolute weight.
