p.1 #1 · Senior Portrait - Need Ideas, Circumstances...
I need to take a couple of photos of my daughter for her Graduation announcements. The problem is she is very photo shy and self consious. She chipped her 2 front teeth last year and does not want to see that in the photos. Any ideas on ways to shoot her without her smile being a focal point?

Well, Like the Mona Lisa, smile with no teeth. You can create beautiful senior portraits without them. Flirty, serious, pensive, etc. Look around the people forum and find what she might like. Something that fits her personality.
Tell her that she doesn't have to smile and she might relax a little.
Good luck.

No offense to you, but hire a pro? They are good with these things, and will likely be easier for your daughter to feel relaxed in front of the camera. In my experience, people feel less self conscious when working with a stranger, rather than family. But like the others said, smiling without showing teeth is pretty common.

Also teeth would be very easy to retouch, why worry about that. I would also suggest to hire a pro, if you find one with a decent personality, she might actually do better with him/her. I find if people are trying to hide poor teeth/braces it looks worse than just forgetting about it and behave normally.
