p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Using sigma dedicated flash on a non dedicated camera

I have a question bout using a sigma ef610 dg flash with a sigma mount on cameras other than a sigma. Being that the circuitry is dedicated for sigma camera as to voltage and pin layout would it be possible to use it on either Nikon or canon in a non dedicated mode? The reason I'm asking is that I found one that is a sigma hotshot mount at a cheap price but like the use it on my canon g9. I have used a Nikon sb24 on a Panasonic fz series camera with no problems.

Yes, you can use it in Manual mode on any standard camera; the "sync only" center pin is used, rather than the pins used for dedicated modes, which can vary from brand to brand.

The only caveat would be which dedicated flash. Some older ones (from before the digital age) may have too high of a sync voltage, and could damage some digital cameras.
