This newborn session is everything I want my newborn work to be...simple, organic, natural, sweet, and all about the baby. So much newborn work these days seems to be a competition between photographers as to who can outdo who when it comes to props/poses/etc (I've even seen photogs shoving a newborn baby into a glass jar full of candy...yikes). Sadly, the focus has shifted so far from the baby that you don't even know what you are supposed to be looking at. When I was first starting out, I think I tried a little bit of everything that was trendy or popular at the time from ugly props (I had some doozies) to what I lovingly refer to as 'bleaching the baby' (editing that takes almost all natural color out of their skin), and even some (IMO) ridiculous poses. So this is where I'm at now and I can finally say that I'm happy with my newborn work. And I think I'm finally figuring out my macro lens and I kinda love it!
Beautiful series--especially #8 which are feet that develop into a perceived set of hands praying. Composition, dramatic angles, and color visibility are brilliantly executed. Nice.
Thank you guys. I really appreciate it. I'm really happy with this session and finally feel like I'm finding my way with newborns (I don't get to do them often), so it's nice to get confirmation of sorts that I'm on the right path here. Thank you again!
Lisa, you inspire me to do better everyday! The pictures you create are stunning, emotion filled and speak loudly! I'm just getting into photography and if could gain a quarter of your skills, I would feel very accomplished! Thank you for sharing! I look forward to your updates!
Your lighting and skin tones and textures are amazing in this set. You found a way to capture expression and feeling by hand character and feet character as well as by skin wrinkles
You were close and intimate and you too drew me in, these are simply precious Lisa, charming and heart warming
It didn't even bother me to transition from color to B&W as they had a very related feel and harmonized nicely for me, I just didn't want the post to end
I have one little nit, that angle on the wagon heading downhill bothers me a bit, it just makes me a little uncomfortable with anticipation if that makes sense. Would leveling it work for you??
You know I am a fan, this set is outstanding and a result of your talents!
