p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · M4/3 for Macro?

Just wondering if anybody on here is using micro 4/3 for macro shooting. I was looking around and thinking something like and OMD E-M5, Olympus 60mm macro and the Olympus twin flash system might make a good macro setup.

Would something like that be a downgrade from my D7000 and dedicated macro lens? Just curious on the pro's thoughts on using a setup like above (instead of my D7k).

Not a pro, but I think that would be a killer 4/3 setup. The term 'downgrade' is a bit subjective, imo. People don't buy into 4/3 because they make the highest quality images and to heck with everything else. It's a trade off for the size. If you have no issues with the size of your D7000, then I think it would be an unwise move, imo.

Search for user MarkB1 and look at his images. He's using m43. At least, he was.

He still is but the FZ50 + achromats get more work for the obvious reason of focus hunting, the fact I use AF.

I use the E-P2 with the VF-2 viewfinder (essential) but that has to be removed for using flash.

The OMD does not have this limitation and has a better sensor.

I use heritage Olympus T series flash with good results but it is mostly manual exposure.

Look for my posts here:

and for my experiences with heritage, manual focus lenses here:

In the same forum, enricosavazzi is a great enthusiast of the OMD

On his own website:

Where you will also find a review of the 60mm.
