Nice option for people that have the newer laptops without a CD drive.

Canon wants a camera serial number before downloading this application. I have a 1DMIII but the web site won't accept that S/N. Any suggestions or alternative ways of downloading the software?

I've seen times when I needed to strip some zeros off a serial for their system to accept it. Have you tried permutations?

I've tried different approaches. It keeps coming back saying "your product is up to date - you do not need this upgrade..."

I'm in the same situation woward - I've got a 5DII and it won't accept the serial number.

What a foolish requirement in any situation. I have a feeling this will leak onto the web before too long. Last time, I had to use that approach.

Figured my problem out - I thought it wanted one of those numbers from the side of the Camera box. No, it wanted the number from the bottom of the camera (near the mounting plate screw hole).

The boxes numbers are UPN, basically part/stock numbers. The serial number is in the ROM (view in EOS Utility) or on the bottom of the camera if used gently. After 4 years, my 5D2 serial numbers have worn almost completely off.

I just went online to my Canon registrations and used that number from my 5D.

Thanks for the heads up, Fred.

What could be the problem if I post a direct link to it?

A little odd to require the serial I guess, but I can confirm that my 5D2 serial worked just fine.

I used to download an old version that installs by itself and update to the newer version of DPP when I lost my CD.

This is handy for the used market where original disks may be missing.

Why is it a little odd. The software is not FREE to anyone . Its part of the package that comes with your camera . So unless you actually own a canon camera your not really entitled to use the software . And pretty much the easiest way to check you own a canon is to ask for its serial number

Just sayin

Does it have any general purpose other than raw conversion of pictures and mocking with camera settings? God forbid someone could use the software to change picture style settings on their .... wait, only Canon cameras are supported anyway!
