...of colour that is!

Saturday evening I took a 1 hour drive to see how the lake is melting and if I could find any photo opportunities. I sure did! So happy to see some open waters already! On my way there I drove under a giant cloud mass that I wasn't sure was going to help my sunset changes. Well, it made for an incredible display of colour.

Gadzooks!
Scott- the last three are off-the-charts spectacular!
And I mean print large and hang 'em on the wall good.

Nice job! I like all four, and the simplicity of #1 is really great. It's easy to forget how beautiful "microscapes" can be. I would maybe consider slightly lightening up the highlights in the foreground of #4. Well done!

Best,

Aaron

All four are spectacular, but can't take my eyes off #1. It shows so little but says so much.

Thank you Aaron. I did try a lighter FG when I processing this and it didnt work for me. This was shot a fair bit after the sun went down and was getting dark. When I tried lightening up the FG the image started to lose it's appeal to me. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Hard to pick a favorite here, though it won't be the fourth one because the image isn't showing for me. I think maybe the first one grabs me the most--loving that Zen simplicity. Great reflections in the other two. Really nice set.

Hey Scott,

You hit the jackpot here with these. #2 is my favorite, the lines in the composition just work so well, and that color... well it's sure exploding there. #3 is my next favorite, I like the stepping stones to gold in that one... #1 is really growing on me, as someone mentioned, it has a very cool Zen quality to it. #4 is the only one that doesn't quite reach out and grab me. There is some cool coloring in the shot, I think that one crack that angles off to the left breaks up the flow of the foreground. Perhaps try going to a 4:5 format crop, lose that whole left side with that crack. I think the nice wide flow of water in the ice on the right half that leads to the color would really make for a cool composition. Just a thought...

I'm a sucker for a great sky, so #2 for me all the way.
Jon
Water part could be a tad darker to be a bit more realistic.

These are all very nice, but I especially like the simplicity and calmness in #1 and the colors in #2. Great work.
