Not sure if this can be called an Albino. May be leucistic is a more appropriate word for this new born Mockingbird.
The Indigo Buntings stay around only a few days and so do the Starlings
Bluebirds stay all year around and I make sure they have a house for their babies They already had a first brood and are currently taking care of a second one. The young bluebird from the first brood often remains in the area and assist its parents in caring for the second. I used a 2xTC_III, I got yesterday, on a 5DIII for the Baby Blue shot.

Now isn't that a delightful Grackle That sure shows off all the nuances of color and character they posses. Nice perch, nice BG unique and effective angle on this shot................Yep I like it

Nice on the Starling, often overlooked but IMO they are photogenic

Awww, Baby Blue is a sweetheart of a shot, I like the fluttering wings

I am looking forward to seeing the Indigo Buntings again, this is a lovely one my friend!

The Albino, now that is unique, not sure how it will look in the future but it's gotta look better then than now A bit homely but not without hope

Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful. You've really captured the beauty of all these birds especially the starling. The bird is more correctly called leucistic as the eyes are still dark and there some colour showing in the plumage.

We found one last year all grown up. Maybe it will turn out similar!

These are terrific, Socrate; the natural beauty of a diverse set, some unusual findings, (the white-colored mockingbird), and, of course, that incredibly cute baby bluebird (captured, no doubt, with the benefit of the new firmware)!

My favorites among these are the starlings (the combination of light and iridescence is wonderful), and the bluebirds (for the interaction), but the technical quality and impact of all of them are superb.

I know a little bit about color variation in animals, and I do not believe the mockingbird variant has been described or characterized nearly as well as color variants in some other birds, e.g. snow geese, pigeons, quail, chickens. As big country and Merlinator have suggested, the presence of red eyes and snow-white plumage is almost always caused by mutations that inactivate one of the enzymes that makes melanin, and is often referred to as albinism (although there are many different types of albinism). The converse is not true, however; just because a white animal doesn't have red eyes doesn't mean that there isn't a defect in melanin formation. It would be interesting to know whether either of the mockingbird parents also had the pale coloration. (Your next post, perhaps!)

Lots to like here Socrate. The mockingbird, albino or leucistic is very cool but the lack of color there is made up for in spades by your other beauties.

Great stuff Socrate. All have great detail and sharpness - even the baby BB. You've gotten me thinking I should have gotten the 5D3 instead of the 1D4... You sure did pull some nice colors out of the grackle and the starling. However, the baby BB is my pick for the cuteness factor. ~ Ron

Thank you for you kind comments, Karl. I try to capture the iridescence of those birds when the opportunity arises.
The baby Blue is always a joy to watch it
