p.1 #1 · Why can't I upgrade firmware on 5D Mark III?

Hey I am trying to upgrade my 5D Mark III camera but when prompted to the upgrade firmware screen I click OK but when it starts to upgrade it goes back to the screen. Don't know if this is the right section of the forum to make this post.

Did you copy the .bin file to the root of the CF or SD card?
If you put it in one of the folders, it won't see it.

Also don't use eye-fi cards for this

Hope this helps.\

You can also do it via the Canon EOS Utility software without having to put the firmware update on a card
- connect camera to computer using USB cable and open EOS Utility
- Open the 'remote shooting' control panel
- choose the 'setup' tab of the menu
- click on the firmware version, choose 'update firmware ' and point it to wherever you saved the firmware update file on your computer

Just FYI, basically, what that does is to copy the file into the card for you. You can't update it without a card inside the camera.
