This was taken in August 2011. The 1Ds was a super dust magnet, and I dislike working files from them if I can help it. It is easier for me to redo local shots than work them, as it takes me literally 30 minutes of cloning. Of course sometimes you get once in a lifetime conditions (unless you spend unlimited time out there).

Anyways, hadn't worked this one yet. Few more months, wildflowers will dominate this place!

I can't believe it took you that long to work on this image, regardless of how many dust bunnies there are on the original. Pretty wild clouds and the results look great.

If you kept this one in your archive I can only wonder what other treasures are stored away. Greta light and clouds in this one! Nice anchor point.

Very nice image.

Have you considered getting a sensor cleaning system? When I was in Death Valley there were frequent wind storms and lots of fine dust in the air. I needed to a daily sensor blow and almost weekly I did a wet cleaning.

Great shot Dustin. You should pick out all your favorite unprocessed shots from your 1Ds, then download the LR5 trial. Im pretty sure it has an auto detecting dust spot tool that makes fixing them a lot easier.

I think you are already aware, but the light and clouds in this shot are really amazing. And of course the rest of the picture is very nice as well. Really great shot!

This is a fantastic image.

I hear you on the 1DS3, I tried to stay at f8 or below to reduce dust bunnies and that left me with 7-10. My 5d3 almost never needs dust work and I shoot to f13 or higher.

I recommend against wet cleaning the 1ds3 has the most fragile sensor in the line and it cost me $2300 to replace it when the top filter shattered under light pressure. They replace the entire sensor because it is hermetically sealed.

Beautiful photo of Mt. Rainier, Dustin. Everything comes together with this one.

Is this Bench Lake?

I would say this is definitely worth the half hour you spent on cloning the dust out of the image. I will never get tired of seeing Rainier images, especially with me going out there at the end of this month. I hope you plan to print this!

Dustin, that's a fantastic shot. Love the sky, and that the water is reflecting while still being transparent.

Love it. Looks like a tornado on the side of the mountain. Wonderful and glad you took the time to get all them dust bunnies mating on your sensor resolved.

Wow, thanks everyone for the such kind words!

Fortunately I have a D700 now, so no worries on the dust. (Un)fortunately I had the 1Ds for several years. Nice call on the LR5 trial. I haven't tried it yet, and if it works, I would be the happiest person!

This is from Bench Lake, which is way better than Reflection Lake in my opinion - and there are NEVER any people there

Great shot Dustin!

Regarding the D700, that was a dust magnet for me. The dustiest camera ever. So I'd count your blessings!
