Was away for a while, tried to keep up with everything here but had fun being away. Now I am back
Switched to Leica for the wide stuff. These shots are from this past weekend at a 2nd shooting gig in DC with Shandi Wallace who is a fellow Genesis 3 attendee.
Anything wide is either with the Voigtlander 35 1.4 or 20 1.8. The M9 performed well. I had heard from just about everyone that the files sucked etc. but have been pleasantly surprised with the files so far. The nice thing about not being able to go much above 1600 is that it forces me to shoot at slower shutter speeds thus giving some "movement blur" to my shots which is something I have been trying to work on.
Please be critical of these so that I can improve my skills with the rangefinder.
Well, I suppose if one wished to be HYPER-critical, one could say that the bride in #7 doesn't really stand out from the white house trim, and that in 30, there's a lot of backs turned; outside of that, well, everything else is flawless.
Nice stuff, Doug -- a couple of good ideas to steal.
Nits: My eye is desperate for 11 to rotate three or four degrees clockwise. Maybe something is just fooling my eye, but it seems just slightly tilted. Similarly, 27 is definitely tilted, but not obviously on purpose, so I again want either less or more, but not status quo.
Nice Doug, it seems the blacks are really dark and whites are really bright in some of the B&W. The later color are fairly warm compared to the beginning of the set. Overall, some classic shots here.
Thanks everyone!
I will look back at the skin tones on the BW stuff. I also probably should calibrate my monitor because I have not done it in a few weeks.
BK...I did not shoot any film at the wedding but I did shoot Mr. Baines in his Army Service Uniform with the graflex!
Did you see it on FB?
