Congratulations, Boris.

I'll start this monthly competition and the participation on any of them...

Camera body: Canon EOS 5D
Lens: Carl Zeiss 21/2.8 ZE
Aperture: f/16
Filters: Circular Polarizer (for long exposure)
Short note on PP: slight curves adjustment, some colour balance (image was too warm to my taste) and some sharpening
Top vote (3p) + reason: freaklikeme (excellent mood in this high-key landscape)
Runner up vote (2p): 15Bit (nice capture in hard conditions)
Last vote (1p): twoeye (simple, yet effective composition)

This riverscape was done in a place not far from my work, which I visited with a friend photographer. Excellent spot, but I was there at the wrong time of the day

Good luck everyone.

Congrats Bobu!
The competition seems to get tough this month.

This shot is from a mid-april three day skiing trek in the mountains Lyngsalpene close to Tromsø, climbing the glacier Koppangsbreen towards the peak Tafeltinden. We had all kinds of weather, this is one of only a few glimpses of sun we had during the three days.

Hopefully the last image with snow from me for some months as summer should be here in a month

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Camera body: 5DMkII
Lens: Zeiss 2,8/21 ZE
Aperture: 8
Filters: None
Short note on PP: Light adjustments of WB, exposure, highlights and colours in LR, step sharpen/ resize in PS
Top vote (3p) + reason: sebboh - I really like the leasurly mood, beautifully enhanced in post.
Runner up vote (2p): Cary Glennan - great tones and composition.
Last vote (1p): Taylor Sherman - dramatic colours...

My congrats to Bobu also.

I'm going to break with "tradition" this month and not post something from my X10. This mother and child were the only people at a usually busy spot when we dropped round to feed the ducks.

I'm stuck in a cycle of indecision with regards to the toning, so i might well change it to a straight B&W later...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Camera body: 5D
Lens: Samyang 85mm f/1.4
Aperture: f/1.4 or f/2
Filters: None
Short note on PP: B&W conversion, curves, general tweaking etc in LR4
Top vote (3p) + reason: Sebboh - Because it feels like a story in a photo. Great processing too (I'd love to know more about that actually)
Runner up vote (2p): xbarcelo - Nice tones, and a beautifully understated image. It grew on me the more i looked at it
Last vote (1p): Carsten - Just call me "mother", cos it works for me

Congratulations Bobu. Stunning photograph!

I completly forgot about this thread.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Camera body: Sony Nex-7
Lens: Speedbooster + Zeiss Sonnar 85/2.8
Aperture: f/8, I believe
Filters: none
Short note on PP: Some graduation in the sky
Top vote (3p) + reason: Phillip Reeve, A stunningly sharp shot with the last remnants of the prey around his beak.
Runner up vote (2p): philber, I like the simple esthetics here. Composition in blue.
Last vote (1p): HelenaN Because I find it very difficult to take an interesting photograph with snow in it. And this one shines.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Camera body: a99
Lens: Leica APO-Marco-Elmarit
Aperture: f/4
Filters: none
Short note on PP: Camera neutral color profile, slight curve adjustment for contrast
Top vote (3p) + reason: Analogg- stunning colors, love the tone.
Runner up vote (2p): Xbarcleo- Just so you can vote, you’re going to post this stunning and well framed B&W? Fair enough.
Last vote (1p): Sebboh- Right photographer, right time, right lens. Suggested title… Bay Area Exodus (with dogs).

Quick question: Canon DSLR + Canon lens not allowed. Does that only exclude EF-mount lenses? What about using a Canon 5d2 w/ a converted FL 55 f/1.2? That's a lot more "alt" than the vast majority of lenses on this board. I mean, you can't even get that mounted by buying a simple adapter... it requires hacking together a new mount altogether.

Of course the FL 55 is alt. Edited the rules to say Canon auto focus lens.

In that case a manual focus Canon TS-E lens on Canon is alt which I don´t think is the intention, I think "Canon DSLR using Canon EF or EF-S mount lens is NOT alt" is a better rule.

How about saying that lenses/lens mounts that are no longer in production are alt?

So what about Leica M, Nex, Fuji...?
Everything except EF/EF-S-Lens on Eos-camera and AF-lenses and anything younger than 1990 on Nikon F-Mount camera would be my suggestion.

I think I'll stick with the current definition. The few exceptions, like the TS-E:s are not mainstream lenses, and could just as well count as alt glass.
