p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · What the duck?

Any idea what kind of species this is? I am assuming that the second is a female version of the first, but I am really unsure. I'm not happy with the IQ of these, but I am happy to have spotted another new to me species of bird.

Looks like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue-winged_Teal. Nice shots. Could be sharper.

Thanks Ken! As I said, I was not happy with the IQ of these at all. They were around 2pm with the sun in the wrong spot...I had to pull hard on the shaddows to get anything at all for detail

I really appreciate the ID, I'm no "ducker". I usually concentrate on the warblers and sparrows

Very nice Blue-Winged Teal. Tried to get their photos last night, but they wouldn't come any closer.

Hey Charles these Teals are a gorgeous duck to get good images of when and if you can, gorgeous on the water and in the air too!!

Might be you had some grasses or reeds that in front of the lens that softened these is my guess. Light at their backs didn't help you here buddy.
Not long before our Warbler invasion here in Ohio at Magee Marsh..........wish you could join us!
