It's been sometime since I posted so thought it time to show a few again rather than just comment.

3 recent shots; the first two from a few weeks back, the last from a week ago when we were on a very wet tour of the highlands.

I like the color cast from stacking filters but would also appreciate any tips for removal.

C&C appreciated. The last one I tried a crop to put the Horizon more on a third, but my girlfriend preferred the un-cropped version.

I enjoy the black and whites, especially the first with its depth. You can see the snow on the distant fells (I have that correct, right?), and who doesn't like an old pier?

For the color photo, I'd override your girlfriend... Make a square to include the best of the clouds and not as much foreground water. Maybe.

Cheers

Thanks Blueshadows. Yes there was a lot of snow on the mountain at the time.

Here's a crop I just did at work:

Like them all, but I think the last draws me in the most. I like the colors quite a bit. The recrop works very well for me--more powerful composition. The original composition seems a bit more serene. Both work well, in my mind.

Nice shots; initial color version is my favorite. Not sure what color cast you are talking about, whatever is there works very nicely.

Thanks very much Dave, Sasha, Eric.

The colour cast I noticed is a bit of a purple tinge with these filters stacked to more than 3 stops (and the reverse nd on its own which i cent remember if i used). You can just see it between the mountains in the clouds.

I can't decide if i prefer the square or original crop. I think you are correct Dave that the first looks more serene.

They're all nice images, but the first is the clear 'Best of Show' to my eye.

IMO, there are several intereting crop possibilities with the 3rd image.....your original presentation, and the crop you've added. But I also think just cropping a fair amount off the top of the original makes a nice version as well.

For me, even if the colors aren't 'real', they work very well for the 3rd image. I wouldn't touch that.

Lovely series, Ed. Love the beautiful soft hues you captured in the last. The cropped version works best for me.

Thanks very much Fo, Ed, Niall.

I like your suggestion of just cropping from the top as well Fo. I'm thinking of getting that first one printed at some point soon. Hopefully it will work on canvas.

Wow I'm overwhelmed with all the lovely comments. Thanks too Ray, Sunny Mark, CW.

It's one of those occasions where I am glad I went and took photos regardless.

The first two I knew i would make it to location at sunset due to running slightly late, and excluding the fact I got lost. Part way there it was obvious there would be no sunset as such but carried on anyhow!

The colour one again I was chasing the sunset after doing a long walk/pub dinner in Glen Nevis so it was touch and go.

I think my B&W processing has come on a fair bit these last few months and its good to see the comments on it.

Thanks again.

Thanks very much Helenica. Sorry I didn't see your comment before.

I just downloaded a free copy of Capture One 6 Express and was playing about. I thought this came out better than my attempts with LR, but I think that's just down to the 'Film Standard' curve that was applied as default, something i could presumably repeat with enough experimentation in LR.
