Posting two weddings in a month...yikes. C&C is always very, very welcome. Rip me to shreds :-) Also, one other thing...I am horrible at knowing what to include and what not to include. If there are images that should not be in the set, please tell me!

Fantastic work, love the interesting lighting in the first few. Love the isolation and detail of the objects.

Impressive work and impressed by nº 19, quite a hard panning at that shutter speed
and getting the bride so sharp !!!

Very nice! #30 - where are they looking? Maybe cull #47 from the blog post. I know we've all taken that same shot, I guess that's what I'm saying. Nice work!

Really nice set--I agree with Mitch re: #47. That's the only one I felt pretty "meh" about.

What's not to like, great set. We should all be this good. Hate to ask but how do you (in general) light you photos? That's got to be your strongest skill. Thanks for sharing your work.

great set but watch the clarity... slightly overdone and looking kinda the same as tony/jonmold/etc..
nice variety in shots you guys stepped it up in that regard that is for sure!

I really like the way you lit the details at the beginning…. speedlight or video light?

Funny Doug mentioned these had a Moldy look to them... I though that too at first glance.

Not that its a bad thing of course, I like 'em.

The only thing I will mention (again) is that I would watch the clarity on folks faces... it can be very harsh and unforgiving.

Good set mate.

Wow...thanks for the feedback all! I don't usually get this amount of response, so that is very encouraging. Lots of questions, so I will address them:

Editing/Clarity: I have definitely been pushing the clarity more and more lately. I have always loved it, but I was always hesitant to use it too much because when I had in the past, I got critiqued pretty hard on the halos (which were much more apparent in older versions of the raw process). So, I was using it less and less. But, since LR4, I have been working it back in to the mix more. When we attended Hoffshop about a month ago, I saw how much Tony used it, and I realized it was silly for me to not use it as much as I want if that is what I like. Granted, I don't want my stuff to look like his stuff (in the sense of copying him), so maybe I have pushed it too far down that road. But, I do love the look of it for the most part...as long as it does not overly contrast skin/face. Other than that, the processing has not changed much recently (although, I have moved away from vsco, rolling off my blacks as much)

Lighting: Everything that was lit artificially was lit by a single speedlight (reception not included). For everything but the detail shots, the light is in a 24" gridded softbox. I would have used a grid on the detail shots, but I forgot it at home that day.

Lenses: an assortment of the Sigma 35, 85, and 50, Canon 70-200 II, 24, 17-40, 100L macro

47...I will definitely take that one out of the set. good call.

Thanks everyone!

Joel,

There is some seriously good stuff going on in here. I sort of see a bit of an "identity conflict" in this set. On one hand, I see a photographer with a keen eye for moments (6, 9, 13, 19, 22a, 24) and a great ability to capture them in a dynamic way. They are one off moments that the photographer captured with skill.

On the other hand I see a "cheesey" (said with love) almost cliche approach to wedding photography. I look at images like 5, 7, 17, 30, 31, 37, 39, 43, 47 and think 'just about every photographer on this forum can capture that image.' There is nothing wrong with them at all. And shooting them doesnt make you cheesey and/or cliche. Its just that the other really identifiable stuff gets buried among these types of shots.

I think if you took out the following images, you'd have a 'signature set' that is unique to you and separates their day from other days: 1, 3, 5, 7, 12, 17, 22b, 25, 30, 31, 37, 39, 43, 47, 48. I think that leaves you with a very classy set.

Chuck

I avoided looking at this yesterday. So glad I decided to take a peek.

Some really great shots here, but 13 is just amazing. I'd clone out the videographer though.
