p.1 #1 · Stiched images using film?

Anyone created panoramic images from stitching together two or more analogue images?

I have done some experimenting with my Canon G10 and am now thinking of having a go with either 35mm or MF B+W film.

I am assuming that once I have scanned the negs Photoshop will deal with them in the same way as it would images captured digitally....but it would be interesting to hear from anyone with direct experience before I go out and burn a roll of film!!

Hi. I have done several stichings from analogue images. No problem. Photoshop does the job.

Okay. But why do you want to use film?

The same reason people prefer using film to digital. But I can see the benefits of using digital for panoramic views and if I can do that with MF film as well...so much the better!!

That and I have just been given 80 rolls of out of date HP5 to play with.....

Have you considered using a panoramic camera? A 617 panoramic gives you creative opportunities that would be difficult if not impossible with stitching. A 617 takes medium format film and uses three 6x6 negative frames per exposure, so you get 4 shots per roll of 120 film. If you want to see some really excellent modern work with a 617 check out Josef Koudelka's book Chaos.
