p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Butcher shop under moonlight

I live in a rough, post-industrial small city in upstate NY that's full of small shops like this butcher shop just down the street from me. Problem is, there's also a lot of crime in the area. I tried taking a moonlit shot of this shop but I didn't have time to recompose or explore other options before running off to avoid getting mugged. Let me know how I could have done this shot better and I'll follow up with a better shot when I get the chance:

Anyone out there have any tips to avoiding getting mugged when photographing in rough neighborhoods?

I would say go in groups or with someone from the area that would not get mugged.

Otherwise, I know you don't want to hear this but I would just avoid it. If the picture is worth more to you than your equipment--go for it.

Wise words, I'll plan out a photo trek with a few friends next time
