echo what Rick & Ted said...very nice. What's w/ the blue tuft sticking out of the ground on the 3B line?
Different aged kids play on fields with different length base paths. Many fields are used for a lot of different age groups, and as a result could have two or three base positions. The field crews put those blue tufted plugs in the ground to keep the dirt out of the holes not being used. When they use the field for a different age group, they simply pull the plug, drop the base into the hole and pop the plug into the other base position. Quick and easy -- and really helpful when different age groups back-to-back games on the same field. Rarely happens on high school fields -- but happens a lot in youth leagues.
