The batt in the grip is either used or probably not genuine. My 2 yr old EN-EL15's from my D7K all read "0"
My D800 batts thru ~16K actuations both read "0" Something's not right there.
Thanks for your input. Wow 16k and still read "0", yeah something's up with mine. The battery in the grip is indeed a Nikon which came with the new body ( now has 219 clicks). I had suspected something was wrong with it a couple of weeks ago;
About 35k shots and still 0 on the battery indicator . I get about 1000 shots out of them. (have 2, but 1 is used a lot more than the other) The batteries are about 2-3 years old from when I bought my D7K.
Try to put that battery in your body and leave the grip off, what does it say then?
The bad battery in the body without the grip reads the same unfortunately. Oh well, it happens. I spoke with Nikon yesterday, they'll be taking care of me.
I should also mention that my battery was not part of the recall.
I have not yet experienced any issues with my EN-EL15's on either D7100 or D800. They are all working well. I was planning to buy a few extra's in the upcoming month's.
I'm reasonably sure that your shutter count is right, just based on your personal input. But be aware that the DSC_0219 count means nothing. That number can be reset and manipulated in a couple different ways. Only the exif count is correct.
However, it's probably a bad battery as I have ~10,000 shots on my D800e and the batteries all still register as 0 or 1.
well I'm glad nikon gave someone a replacement!
there is a problem with their batteries, not just the specific recall ones.
I posted this a few months back on dpr
What kind of life are you guys getting out of the Nikon brand battery? The no name battery seems to be holding a charge fine.
Thats crazy, you must have a bad battery.
I've got 6 batteries for my D700 and D300s that are 4-5 years old and all are still at "0" life.
Also, do you have a real Nikon grip or a knock off grip? If it's a knock off grip then it could have a back connection with the battery making it die faster.
