At Spencer Island, an estuary near Everett, Wash., which is about 20 miles north of Seattle, I came across a scene no doubt replayed in households across the country. I'm definitely no expert on Tree Swallows, but watched this repeat over the course of two-plus hours, and there was no feeding involved, just conversating.
