p.1 #4 · p.1 #4 · Canon Version III TCs and microadjustment -- is this normal? | |

Hi,
I have the 300 IS II lens and both the 1.4x and 2x TCs, both version III. I only acquired the 1.4x recently. I also have a Kenko Pro 300 1.4x TC.
On my 50D, with the bare lens, or the 2x TC, or the Kenko 1.4x TC, no microadjustment is needed.
With the 1.4x TC though, I found out that I need +8 microadjustment to get satisfactory results.
I only got the Canon 1.4x TC III a couple of days ago. I am wondering if the TC is mis-calibrated. I can exchange it for a new one, or send back to Canon for calibration, or, I can just live with the microadjustment.
I understand that this is what microadjustment is for; but it is a bit strange that no MA is needed for all other combinations so it seems to pinpoint the issue to the Canon 1.4x TC. And, since it is newly acquired, if there is any action to be taken, it should be taken now .. hence my question.
Thanks in advance,

I find it strange that no MFA is needed for any of the many other combinations!
(seriously, barely any combo I've ever tried, any lens, any body, has been best at 0, I think only once so far ever)
