Hey Guys,

This is my very first post in the Lighting/ Studio thread. I am looking for one of those brackets that you can use to mount 2-4 speedlights, and mount them to a speedring.

The catch is I saw one where all four lights were head to head, centering in the middle instead of all four going outwards, like a cross. I don;t remember what it was called, or where I saw it. I have searched all over eBay and Googled a hundred different word combinations to try and find it to no avail.

Thanks!
Gary

I know of one that mounts two Speedlites, but I haven't seen the one you refer to.

Here's the one I've seen:

This is from:

There's also the Lastolite Quad Bracket, but that's designed for umbrellas and EZ Boxes, not for speed rings.

That is along the line of what I am looking for, but man, that is SPENDY! Thanks for the heads up.

I'll keep looking.

Check this one. The position is too deep though ...

Or if we could find a way to attach this brilliant quadruple flash into speed ring to flash bracket

FWIW - Unless you are trying to use high shutter speeds outdoors with high speed sync (HSS) and multiple flashes to increase the effective range ganging speedlights in a softbox isn't a very cost effective solution and also not the ideal way to illuminate a soft box.

A studio monolight with battery-inverter power source would be cheaper and the bare bulb design better suited to the way a soft box are used. In terms of logistics a monolight / inverter would also be simpler and offer more modification options.

I was looking for something similar but for 2 flashes. I ended up making a mounting block that holds two flashes horizontally with a heavy duty rod that slides through the center to focus a Paul C Buff PLM for when I dont want to bring a full lighting kit.

Hmm, bumping it up as to not start another thread. Would there be a cheaper alternative other than the Kacey brackets where I can do 1 or 2 speedlights (thinking 1 or 2 SB-910 units) to an Elinchrom 39'' Deep Octobox?

Saw some options.

1. Using a Justin clamp. This is assuming I already have a softbox adapter. http://www.vibrantshot.com/elinchrom-diffusers-with-speedlights/

2. Buying an actual speedlight to Elinchrom adapter.
Legit looking site: http://www.theflashcentre.com/tfc-elinchrom-speedlight-adapter-i10676.html
eBay Chinese alternative (any worse? likely the same, no?): http://www.ebay.com/itm/Speedlite-Bracket-Mount-For-Elinchrom-Part-e-Fit-Elinchrom-Snoot-Softbox-/350856340549?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item51b0aae445

What do you guys think? Am interested in getting one of these since I'm not too crazy about having an assistant lug around a Ranger RX Speed AS battery WITH a head and Octobox. Can just use a speedlight sometimes.

Perhaps this might work:

Thanks! But it said "most small speedlights"... pretty sure the SB-910 would not be considered small...

I can't imagine how 3-4 speedlights will fit any speedrings made for typical softboxes. Are you saying they were head to head and actually fit through the opening of the speedring? As seen by the samples provided here with the typical size opening of these speedrings only 2 speedlights can fit. The cross pattern as you noted is common because they are not squeezing into the opening.

All speedlights are small, relatively speaking. Perhaps if you were to take half a second to do a search, something like along the lines of "LumoPro Double Flash Bracket Speedring + SB-910", you'd find your answer.

If you already have the speedlites then it probably cheaper to make a bracket to position the Speedlights in the opening of the speed ring for the soft box. Otherwise look into the Elichrom Ranger Quadra kits they are 400 ws heads with a rechargable pack and if your using it all day you can charge it as you shoot if 110 is available.

Checkout the four square flash brackets if your rich enough you can configure up to eight speedlites with this hardware.

Another setup for more power than a Speedlight is the qflashes by Quantum. The t5d-r is 200ws with a bare bulb setup for a better light distro in a softbox and you can use a Stobies bracket to connect a bowers speed ring to it. And if you need more power get the x version of the Qflash it can produce 400ws of power under the correct setup.
