I am looking at prices on BH and Adorama. 5D II + 24-105mm is more expensive than 6D + 24-105mm.
Am I missing something? Is the 6D having some quality issues?

My guess is that since Canon isn't selling the 5DII anymore, the price will go up for those that still have new ones left.

OK but the question is why would someone NOT buy the 6D which is an upgrade for less money?

The 6d is going to be cheaper to produce and a more current product.

5d2 has some features the 6d lacks (and vice versa).

Upgrade? 6D uses only SD cards, has vulnerable WiFi gimmic feature, etc.
No way am I interested in 6D. My 5D2 and 5D3 are more than sufficient.

Vulnerable? SD cards are fine too.

98.9% of the time I would take a 6d over a 5d2.

As I said in my poll yesterday the 6D was almost dismissed out of hand when it was announced but it has gained such a following now (by being good), that it has overtaken the 5D2 in many or most people's minds.

I'm not sure it's enough to make me swap my 5D2 but many have.

Why would anyone buy a 5D2 over a 6D?

Better ergonomics if you're going to use some of the heavier lenses hand-held for any extended periods of time. My hands are not huge, but I have found the 6D a bit uncomfortable to hold even with a fairly light 24-105. Lord bless you (well, at least someone with hands like mine) if you try to put a 3lb lens on a 6D and swing it around for four hours...

YMMV, of course.

Well some dislike SD cards, the 5D2 is physically bigger, has a slightly bigger amount shown in the VF and it has the little nipply control button which I personally like but if I had neither I'd buy a 6D

Not enough of an upgrade to make me swap my 5D2. If I was going to get a second body I'd get another 5D2.. If my wireless hot shoe trigger fails .. I could always plug in my pc sync cable ..been there done that.

Me neither, at least not quite.

But you could easily buy a hotshoe pc sync adapter for peanuts

Same here in germany. New 5D IIs are offered more expensive now than 6D is.
Think that is fine. Keeps the "used" price higher so I can sell mine at a better price to purchase a 6D.

If you don't need high ISO performance and no WiFi/GPS, but the joystick function, better camera magnesium body, and CF card usage is important, the 5D II is a keeper instead. Looks like the 5D II is still a camera body in demand - I believe it is one of the most successful camera bodies Canon ever made. If Canon formerly implemented a marginally better AF system in the 5D II, the 5D III simply wouldn't exist.

If Canon had a better sensor supplier, the 5D III would have better IQ and improved AF would not be the main reason to buy one.

I was underwhelmed after trying a 6D and walked away preferring my 5D2: more comfy grip, better controls and nicer VF. The only thing that was obviously nicer on the 6D was the LCD. AF felt about the same albeit the more senstive center point in low light is nice. The 6D's tiny QCD and lack of a joystick were the real deal breakers for me. Hate those wee tap pads on the QCD for selecting AF points. If my 5D2 bought the farm tomorrow I'd twitch a little and replace it with another 5D2 or a 5D3 if mama is feeling kind. The 6D grip and controls fall short for me.

I was pleasantly surprised after buying the 6D sight unseen. My camera collection includes 1D2's, 1Ds2, 1D3 - I've owned a 5D, 20D, 40D, and had a long love relationship with a 5D2.

The 6D is ergonomically different than most of the rest, and it fits my hand like a glove, allowing my fingers to reach almost everything I need to with the one hand.

It's hard to find much wrong with the camera - the AF layout is a little tightly grouped in the middle of the frame - but I only ever use the center point so it's a non-issue for me.

I'm content to wait for the next FF breakthrough.... and can resist the urge to have a 5D3 in my bag.
