I just bought a new-to-me Zoom Nikkor 50-300 4.5 ED that I have lusted after for a long time. It looks brand new and I use it with my D7000. But, the photos I get do not have the sparkle or crispness I get with my DX Nikkor 55-200 G lens. Plus upon repeated use, I have found what I call "zoom creep". The zoom ring moves and I can see the elements move inside but the zoom ring itself freely moves about 2mm either way before I feel the ring engage. In other words, the zoom ring just feels briefly loose each time I zoom. Plus as I move the loose zoom ring, I can see the focus change.
I love this lens but don't know what to do. Should I just live with it or see about getting it repaired but where?
Thank you for any help you can offer.
