What is the next best option to the notoriously hard to get Lee Filter System and the Big Stopper filter? Why is a product that so many seem to love so hard to get? Is Lee a small production company? I can't imagine why they wouldn't expand to meet demand.

Lee is indeed a small company, and their products are each made one-by-one:

Interesting. I'm sure there is a good reason they run like a cottage industry, but that looks like a rather inefficient production process to me. Many places the process seems to be only one step up from a school lab - casting of such small pieces of resin using what look like paper clips to hold the mould together, manual dip coating etc.

yeah, well, that's the way something's work. quaint isn't it? as inefficient as some things seem and its the end result that matters.

I actually think its wonderful that a company that employs people rather than machines like that can thrive in the modern world. It's just that watching the video i was struck by the thought that if *I* were to scale up a lab process the end result would look something like what they have. And not to be-little my abilities, i am not exactly what you would call an efficiency or scale-up expert

I waited and waited and waited and finally got the Lee Big Stopper through B&H when they got a small batch in off intergalactic back order. I think the next best option is going to be Singh Ray, for a high quality filter.
