The 45mm PCE is probably Nikon's most overlooked lens.

Kent in SD

I agree. I had borrowed one about a year ago from a friend at Nikon and hesitated buying one but then finally went for it. Of course it has its uses but when it comes to travel, architecture and landscape certainly a great tool to have. Even can do a few creative portraits here and there !

The title of this thread made it feel as though it was a travel agents fantasy photo trip pitch.. I could see myself there before clicking in.

I can't think of a better location, or, camera to bring.. Nice series and (said with extreme jealousy) Hope you had a good time.

Ha, funny

I had a great time, weather was wonderful and I was with my wife which made it even better (she helped organize the trip for an Art History professor and students on the trip, but we tagged along in the churches but were free early and late in the day)

Very nice pics, the 45PC seems to be a very interesting lens indeed.

These are very cool!

When you were taking these, did you just leave the tilt mechanism on an average setting, or was each unique to the situation? I use mine primarily for shifting, with minor tweaks. I've never really done a lot of creative photography like this.

Thanks!

Cool pics, tasteful and well executed, so no argument there. But is this the way I prefer to see Venice? Sorry no. Still, 3, 7 and 8 are very nice. Maybe it is the effect of seeing all shots done this way which turns me off...

Thanks

This was first time I used this lens for any extended period of time, and so I had the tilt effect towards the extreme end most of the time. In future settings I would perhaps dial it down a bit.

Thanks I do understand your point which is fair.

I wanted to use the 45 PCE the entire weekend to get a better feel of it, plus I thought I'd stay in one artistic approach with the tilt effect to get a different perspective on Venice.

I have way too many lenses but not that one (for now ).
About cyclocross, I never had the occasion to watch some in real life...

And guess which Mount I took pictures of a few months ago (Hint: not very far from Jasper, AB)

why'd you look then?

seriously, tilt shift/selective focus has been around longer than you... I respect that opinions are like assholes, everyone's got one.... but sometimes you just gotta keep it to yourself...

yes, there are examples of poorly executed tiltshift/hdr images, but I do not feel that these images belong in the poorly executed pile...

what have you got to share that's so amazing?

ohhhh!! Excellent!!

Both seeing live cyclocross in Belgium & climbing Mt. Robson are on my "bucket list".

The season is just about to start... maybe you can make me SUPER jealous, and watch a race and take some photos?
