p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Venice with D800E and 45 PCE

I was lucky to be able to tag along with my wife who was accompanying an Art History group to Venice last weekend

All of these images were taken with the 45 PCE which I really enjoyed using. The full gallery can be seen at my Pbase site : www.fotomark.org

Comments most appreciated.

Mark

Seeing work like this reminds me why I was attracted to photography after 35 years in the art world working, working with everything from oil on canvas, carved stonework and poured metal. Digital photography can create inspiring images almost everywhere. (And oh, how I'd love to make Venice one of those places!)

Fantastic stuff. Thanks for posting.

Beautiful! Is the selective focus effect strictly due to the lens?

The title of this thread made it feel as though it was a travel agents fantasy photo trip pitch.. I could see myself there before clicking in.

I can't think of a better location, or, camera to bring.. Nice series and (said with extreme jealousy) Hope you had a good time.

Amazing what T&S lenses can do but in this case I don't like the effect. Venice is beautiful but my attention is drawn more to what is out of focus more than to what is in. Your shots make me wonder what it would have been like showing the scene as it was with full depth of field. Sorry...

Gene

I really enjoyed looking at your work, great fun ! #2,3,4 & 7 being my favourites.

The only shot that made me feel uncomfortable was the last (#8) where the Venician is looking out of the frame and therefore I felt he is far too close to the border.

In the meantime I had a day in Venice... Two bodies and two lenses: D600+Sigma 35/1.4 and D5200+Sigma 150/2.8. Unbelievable good setup for such as great destination.

Enjoyed the shots. The selective focus certainly creates a different feel to the images.

I tend to avoid tourist destinations in general, but for Venice, it should be on every persons Bucket List. The little cafes tucked down the back alleys have just outstanding fare...and the local wine (oh my!)

Thanks for posting. Makes me want to return soon.

The 45mm PCE is probably Nikon's most overlooked lens.
