Very interesting. Wonder whether anything like that will hit full frame?

+1

I start to re-think my 7D sale. It's super-cool, despite lacking IS/OS which I love.

Happy shooting,
Yakim.

Looks like this might be the exception for my "no more crop lens" rule :-)

For an effective 27-52.5mmm f2.6 lens? This gives crop users similar dof and light gathering as the 2.8 zooms on FF which is nice, still FF will have advantages in resolution etc.

Its hopefully a decent lens tho.

Rob, someone with FF will probably not go back but someone with crop may re-think the move to FF.

Happy shooting,
Yakim.

Light gathering would be 2 times bigger, even though DOF won't be related to that. The shutter thus would be 2 times faster, which is also nice. And until now, there just wasn't any crop equivalent (including DOF) of the f/2.8 FF zooms.

Yeah but you also have to factor in the camera performance . You get faster shutter speeds by 1 1/3 stops but a modern ff should be able to increase the iso by at least 1 1/3 stops to cover that .

And then add in the fact that you can many other ff 2.8 zooms and faster primes .

That said this looks a real good move on sigmas part . It will be interesting to see what sort of cost they get this out for and if they can get a crop 35-135 (ish) 1.8 or f2 zoom to go with it . I think I would seriously consider 18-35/1.8 35-130/2 & 120-300/2.8 as a full sigma lens set (I already have the 120-300) on my 7D or future 7D2

Damn, I have been praying for a 20-35 f/2 for FF, but this wouldn't be half bad for APS-C if I could make myself actually buy a crop lens, something I've never done.

The 85/1.4, 150/2.8 OS and 120-300/2.8 OS are also very good.

Happy shooting,
Yakim.
