The grip over all works great. Only issue that I run into is this.
I have the camera set to use the battery in the camera first and have backup NiMh AA's in the grip. The grip still appears to be the primary battery as they will always run down and the main battery hasn't been touched. When this happens I get an error on the camera and the only way to correct it is to remove the batteries from the grip.
Has any one else seen this with a Nikon grip? Or is it just a quirk of my Vello? For the price I can live with it and just keep the backup batteries out of the grip until they are needed.
Huh. I always use the grip batts first and seldom go to the "in body" one (reads 100% most of the time)
About once a month it'll be taken out and go into rotation with my D800 batts. Have you checked the
appropriate choice in d3 and order in d4 Dunno what else to tell you.
Thanks but both are correct. I'm just using AA NiMh so I figure I should use those as the back up and not the primary. Regardless as soon as the AA's have run down the camera throws an error. Even if I set the grip to primary it will not switch to the camera battery.
Have you specified in the camera what batteries you are using in the grip? In mine I have the camera set so that the battery in the grip says EN-EL15, but i can also specify if i am using AA's. Maybe this would work?
