p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Not so fast...D7K far from dead

Bombarded with emails/PMs regarding the virtues of the new D7100 in the last few weeks,
I brought out my old trusty D7K and took on a recently flooded pasture. I fired off in excess of
400 BIF and waders and never missed a shot, nada one. Yeah...some clipped wings, T-posts,
Bob-War inna way BUT the old sucker was up to the task. Handheld (BushHawk) AFS-300 f4
and as per my habit, SOOC and presented after croppin' the bejesus out of them. Just sayin

More can be seen here on N&W...

Nonsense, we all know once a new model comes out, the older model is no longer capable of photographs. Its common sense.

I'm still trying to remember what, exactly, I got with the proceeds from the hasty sale of my D7K...

The D200 is still capable of producing great images as well, but that doesn't mean that it wouldn't be an intelligent decision to spend a little more for the 7100 over the 7000 considering that it is a one time expense and really is quite a leap forward.

If there was a D6900 with ONE focal point, no continuous AF, 8MP, etc etc I could still shoot a magazine cover with it -- but what's the point?

Is it worth it to sell the 7000 to get a 7100 if you are completely broke? No. Is it absolutely worth the upgrade if you understand the differences and know you can benefit from them? Yes.

I'm seeing a couple D7000's on my local Craigslist for $600-650...that is a true bargain right there.

Pics are great!

Have you got the latest firmware for the D7000? I was hoping you could tell us what the differences were.

Thanks, Todd. You tried the new firmware?! Methinks undisclosed AF tweaks imbedded in the fluff.

Dude, in the right hands every tool looks good, and you've got the right hands. It's always great to see what you're shootin' at, regardless of what you're shootin' with.

Absolutely. Mine does, my shootin' partner...not yet. With TC's it's no longer got a hitch in it's git-along.
It's pronounced and one of my peeves about the MultiCAM4800, cross that one off. Now about the lack
of 100% one touch zoom on playback.... Never used video in my life on a DSLR so any benefits
fell on deaf ears w/moi.

Will, I've no doubt you could get great shots out of a pinhole camera made from a biscuit tin! Great shots.
