Den, you did a very good job on these, especially on the exposure . I choose #2 and 3 as the best of this set. #1 is nice also, but distracting elements are taking my eyes away from the subject.
The same with #2 the bird house in the foreground is too intrusive.
I know some times there isn't much we can do about it. However using tight composition may help the viewer keep the eyes on the subject. Just try to make the subject the most prominent, bright and sharp element of your image and get rid of all the rest that is not helping the composition
Here is what I mean. I hope this helps and I will delete my re-work once you've seen it.
Keep shooting
Socrate

Thank you Socrate for your feedback. This is the kind of critique that I find very helpful so I can improve my photo techniques. Sometimes I overlook some obvious flaws. I appreciate it.

Beautiful set, I love how you composed #2. Usually, foreground clutters are a no no but this one totally works, excellent!

Just try to make the subject the most prominent, bright and sharp element of your image and get rid of all the rest that is not helping the composition. #1 Golden Rule.

#3 is my favorite composition and very well done... the bird is just a bit soft to my eye, probably due to 1/125s. I believe the 7D will produce very nice IQ at higher ISO... so bump the ISO and SS when necessary to freeze the action on these twitchy little guys.

The Downy looks nice but once again just a wee bit soft to my eye... maybe due to heavy cropping?

I've been helped and encouraged so much by so many here on the forum, and do my best to help others with what I hope is perceived as constructive feedback.

Keep shooting and posting... this was a very nice set Den.

Kirk

Nice set. I like 2 the best - a very difficult bird to photograph due to it's plumage. Nice work!

(it wouldn't be hard to clone out that bird box. it's a great shot but the bird box is distracting).
