Some pics from my trip to Antarctica back in January. I must say that the weather was everything else than cooperating, no antarctic landscapes as we know it from postcards. Luckily it was good enough to allow most of our landings and we had at least FOUR hours of sunshine during five days
On the other hand there was the opportunity for some shots with really interesting cloud formations and light situations. Here is a first selection, c&c always welcome!
Sandra, those are breath-taking, I really enjoyed them. #1, 2 and 4 are my favorites.
I think #3 needs to be re-processed to bring out more structure in the cloud.
Thanks for sharing!
Looks like a great adventure. The last looks like it was taken from an elevated vantage point?? You captured some nice light in that one. Very nice set, despite the uncooperative weather.
i really like the last two.
Summer at king George island is kinda trippy to me. not sure if its ice or clouds.
the gold and blues in paradise bay are amazing
@Dave: All of the shots have been taken from the decks of our ship.
@Aaron and phlegmon: It's a German cruise company called Passatkreuzfahrten. The ship is MV Delphin. So if you can cope with 99% German passengers (around 300 in total) you can have a very affordable Antarctic cruise. Our itinerary had two landings at the Falkland Islands and six landings at Antarctica. Due to the weather we missed one of each.
@Ray: Probably that's true. It took me a while to see it this way
