p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · New computer configuration

I recently built a computer designed just for Photoshop. I have loaded it up, but I believe I have not configured it correctly for the best utilization of available resources. I am wondering if anyone might offer some advice to configure things to take full advantage of what I have built.

The key things are:

Mainboard : ASUS P9X79 PRO
Total Memory : 64GB DIMM DDR3
Processor : Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3930K CPU @ 3.20GHz
Monitor/Panel : NEC Technologies LCD3090WQXi
Video Adapter : AMD FirePro V4900 (ATI FireGL) (480 SM5.0 800MHz, 960MB DDR5 4GHz 128-bit, PCIe 2.00 x16)

I have a Crucial 256gb M4 for the root drive, a Crucial M4, 128gb for a Photoshop Scratch Drive, and a Crucial 512gb for a work in progress drive. Backup drive is a 3TB (NTFS) @ Seagate ST3000D, and external backup is 3TB (NTFS) @ WDC WD30EZRX.

OS is Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 6.01.7601 (Service Pack 1)

All this was as suggested to me, but the person who did so, is not available to help make sure it is optimized for best performance.
Any direction or advice would be most appreciated.

TIA
Frank

Hi Frank,
Looks like a fine build to me.

M4 is not the greatest, especially in the smaller sizes which are even slower.
