It used to be anything over $200 you had to declare and I think it still is. If you live in the states I would encourage you to buy form an autherised dealer in the us to avoid complication.

That's what I was thinking. Just hard to not go for $700 less, and no sign yet of the Yen Vs. Dollar exchange change.

Canon only offers international warranty on L glass. Having said that I'd not be too worried about buying a 1D X from HK if the seller is a power seller. 95% of my gear used to be purchased from OS before I joined Canon as the price savings overwhelmed any misgivings I may have had about warranty.

Maybe no battery, unless they send it by DHL or other private shipper. The US Post Office does not allow Li-ON batteries to be shipped by international air flights.

If it arrives damaged, you might have to pay $100 to ship it back.
