p.1 #1 · Elephant Arch - Superstition Mntns

took an Easter motorcycle ride into the eastern Superstition Mountains east of Phoenix, went to Elephant Arch, a decomposed granite arch about 10' high by 30' feet long. Neat spot, short hike after a 9mile ride in on dirt track. I want to do some New Moon astro shots thru the arch, add some light painting, maybe take a model up there sometime

shot with my Canon G1X, not quite wide enough... next time 5DM2, 14mm, 16-35, tripod, etc etc

Brittlebush and other spring blooms

My motorcycle (Kawasaki Versys) parked far below

Great location--been there a couple of times but not during wildflower season. Like the first one!

Hi Norm,

What an interesting arch. #1 is my favorite. I wonder though if this would be better shot at a different time of day? Perhaps with sunrise light? You have a nice series of shots, and I can see why you would want to go back and shoot it again but with a 5DM2 instead.

good shots - I am not sure a model would want to take that hike- it can be a bit harry at times but the moon shot would be fun

Yeah, I agree that timing is everything for this spot, this trip was more about getting out of the house and onto the motorcycle.

Early morning or Late afternoon would be cool... I'll be back sometime soon.
