Don't know if you have heard of this wildlife photographer going to amazing lengths to get the shot!

Reminds me of tubing half frozen Wisconsin rivers to catch the Spring thaw rapids while in wet suits.

If I were in his shoes, would probably just build a remote or a drone. If he's actually out there paddling around, that is dedication.

At least he is wearing a dry suit... I would not do that in a regular wetsuit...

Too many crocodiles, sharks & snakes for me to do that.. What's all that white stuff floating around? Some pollution problem. Obviously his method is his cygneture. Something he cob-bled together.

Looks more like a self-portrait setup for when he gets snagged by a polar bear.

Seems like another ardent believer in the principle of "low perspective makes a great shot". Not so easy.....there is much more to it...such as light on the subject and exposure, as his sample shots illustrate rather well. Now, if he gets "within inches" of those birds, why does he need (how can he use) a 500mm lens ?

Besides, I think that goose decoy looks plain silly.

However, in the end, all of that matters little, as long as he is having fun, and/or is able to sell his pictures profitably.

The action, proximity and detail are good. The shade on the bird/exposure is not.

True. He should put a Better Beamer in the swan's mouth.

I was gonna say, PetKal can get shots like that in his backyard whenever he wants without the need for elaborate camouflage contraptions or the need to go into freezing water.

Yeah the birds are probably all thinking "Don't think you're really fooling anyone with that thing, we're just playing along with you for giggles."
